ABOUT
THE ARTIST

A Manhattan born, Lehigh Valley raised artist; Marlow grew up making art influenced by the comics, movies and books he filled his time with as a latchkey kid.  Experiences in set design, architectural and landscape design, and a BFA from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania ultimately led to painting as his medium of choice.

ARTIST
STATEMENT

I paint imaginary landscapes, rich in color and texture, to capture the ephemeral world of dreams.  The surreal color combined with the skewing of perspective and geometric form is an attempt to capture the otherworldly feeling of being in a dream; a world familiar but not confined to logical conventions of our waking reality. The tantalizing surface texture, perspective and color all work together to draw the viewer into the scene and evoke a visceral reaction, while an absence of recognizable objects allows the viewer to create a narrative from their own experience.
